Field Service Engineer ☆
About the role
Work involves servicing sophisticated analytical and scientific instruments for customers in research, industrial, and healthcare environments. The position provides exposure to advanced technology and the chance to contribute to broader scientific progress.
Key responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex analytical equipment.
- Provide exceptional customer service and support.
- Respond to customer needs with short notice.
- Train and support customers on equipment operation.
- Document service activities and prepare detailed reports.
Requirements
- Advanced degree or Bachelor’s degree plus two years of hands‑on technical experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex analytical instruments.
- Preferred fields of study: electronics, engineering, physics, chemistry, or related technical disciplines.
- Additional relevant certifications are advantageous.
- Strong electronics and mechanical troubleshooting skills, including component‑level diagnosis.
- Experience with ultra‑high vacuum systems and high‑voltage equipment is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and service‑management software.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 50‑75 % within an assigned territory.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various laboratory settings.
- Proficiency in English is required; additional languages are beneficial.
- Strong problem‑solving capabilities and capacity for independent work.
- Adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
